Munim Mohibi

For the summer of 2014, I was an intern for Michigan State University in the Kuali Rice bootcamp. The program endeavored to grow a workforce of Kuali Rice developers who would be well-suited to further the implementation of the Kuali Rice framework at MSU. The bootcamp comprised of 13 individuals (including myself) with prior programming experience.

The 12 week program was split into two sessions. We began with 10 weeks of training in an assortment of web based technologies, ranging from Java web applications to HTML5 and CSS3. In the last 2 weeks, I worked exclusively with the Kuali Coeus team at MSU and 4 other individuals from the program to further the development of the Kuali Coeus system.

In 2012, I worked for an MSU professor in the Geology department as a web developer. The goal of the project was to take the students of GLG 201 on a virtual field trip to the Grand Canyon. My task was to design and write the layout of the web portal used by students to access content created by Professor Brian Hampton. The project was funded by a grant from the Lily Fellowship.

Accomplishing my goal required self motivation and the desire to learn a new framework. My research into the responsive web led me to choose a boilerplate Bootstrap layout for a modern page that would be accessible to students on nearly any device. In order to create a responsive, organized web portal, I also learned and implemented jQuery methods for an ultimately engaging learning experience.
